Devising Plots While Undergoing an MRI
I have been working on a dystopian thriller — THE MOTHER SIEGE — and have put the first chapter on Wattpad to share with readers. I had already written the second chapter — and I spent the time while undergoing an MRI to mentally compose part of the third chapter.
Okay, I admit that I cannot control my freaking reaction to an MRI (apparently many people have the same reaction).
I approached this one with detailed preparations and the advice of my multi-talented friend. She writes song lyrics in such a situation and she told me to write a scene for one of my work-in-progress novels.
And, in fact, later in the week, when she took me to an ER, she and I discussed the characteristics of one of the prospective main characters of THE MOTHER SIEGE. This was very helpful in the creative process and in the “distraction from the ER” when your bed is in the hallways as there is no other place for you.
P.S. The three days last week that SOLOMON’S JUSTICE: A PTSD SHORT STORY was available free on Kindle Select were not very successful. This, of course, goes to show that — if you are laid up in bed and cannot use your computer to support your free promotion campaign &dmash; you cannot expect good results (even with the wonderful help of some very supportive online friends).
The short story is only $1.97 — so if you know people who could benefit from the story, do click here and buy it as a gift for them.
